Board Games

New "GAMES" session about boardgames. The Goose (OCA) and Parxis. These two popular board games are often play during holidays, We have preprared and studied the rules, how to say in English, how to explain each other.. and of course we have played in the class... Just watch the video.

Preparing dialogues

Last day we  in English class we recorded some videos and worked with like/love/hate/don't like... and films.. here are some dialogues.. these are beginner students. Enjoy them.... then answer the questions at the end of the post. You should select one of the given options.

Set i mig

Set i Mig
El set i mig és un joc de cartes molt senzill que es juga amb la baralla espanyola, treient els 8 i 9s. Es tracta d'aconseguir acostar-se al 7 i 1/2, sense sobrepassar-lo. Els valors de les cartes són:

• de l'1 al 7, els seu valor.
• la sota, el cavall i el rei valen 1/2.

S'anomena banca a la persona encarregada de repartir les cartes; ell haurà de competir amb els altres jugadors al final. Seguint l'ordre de les agulles del rellotge, la banca va donant una carta a cada jugador; cada jugador només podrà amagar-ne una, la resta estarà cap amunt. Sempre que vulgui es podrà plantar i passar el torn. Si a l'anar demanant cartes superés el 7 i 1/2 quedaria eliminat. Si un dels jugadors fa el 7 i 1/2 passa a ser la banca i s'emporta el doble del que ha apostat, si aquesta no aconsegueix fer el mateix.
Exemple de joc de dues persones;

1. Els jugadors fan l'aposta mínima d'entrada.
2. La banca situa davant del jugador una carta cap per avall.
3. El jugador mira la carta i escull si es planta o si vol seguir amb una de nova. Si vol pujar l'aposta ho ha de fer abans de veure la nova carta.
4. Si seguís el jugador hauria d'escollir quina carta quedaria cap per avall (la que li dóna la banca o la que li havia donat al principi).
5. Seguit del lliurament d'aquesta carta el jugador tornaria a escollir si es planta o segueix.
6. Ara és el torn de la banca. La banca mira la carta que tenia sobre la taula i escull si es planta o segueix (es seguiria a partir d'aquí el mateix procés que el jugador. L'únic que canviaria seria qui li donava la carta).

Text descriptiu. VIC

Vic és la ciutat capital de la comarca d'Osona, al centre-nord de Catalunya. La seva situació geogràfica, a només 69 km de Barcelona i 60 km de Girona, n'ha fet una de les capitals de la Catalunya central.

Ubicació

Vic se situa al nord-est de Catalunya. És la capital de la comarca d'Osona i és al centre de la plana de Vic. Es troba a uns 69 km de Barcelona i a uns 60 km de Girona.
Història
El nom original romà de la població fou Ausa, com en testimonien les monedes romanes i ibèriques que s'han conservat. La via romana més antiga documentada epigràficament a la península és la que enllaçava els poblats d'Iluro i el d'Ausa, construida entre el 120 aC i el 110 aC.[1] En l'època visigòtica fou anomenada Ausona.

Durant els segles VIII i IX, Vic formà part de les marques que separaven les forces franques de les islàmiques. La ciutat fou destruïda el 788 durant una incursió musulmana. Posteriorment, només un dels barris (Vicus, barri en llatí) seria reconstruït, amb el nom de Vicus Ausonensis. D'ací en derivaria el nom de Vic quan Guifré el Pilós repoblà la part alta de la ciutat el 878, cedint el control de la part baixa al bisbe perquè s'hi fes la seu. A partir d'aquell moment, la ciutat seria governada conjuntament pel comte de Barcelona i el bisbe de Vic.

Toponímia
El nom d'aquest municipi s'escrivia antigament, i durant segles, en la forma Vich, en grafia tradicional catalano-occitana. D'ençà de la primeria dels anys 1980, l'ortografia oficial és Vic, en aplicació de les Normes ortogràfiques de l'Institut d'Estudis Catalans, el que desfà la unitat de grafia entre occità i català. La grafia Vich és manté en el cognom Vich, unes 3.000 persones el porten arreu, i la forma Vich és la mateixa que porten les poblacions de igual nom a Occitània i Suïssa.

I live on the edge on Gavà and Viladecans both have beaches...
About Viladecans beaches

it's 2,7 km long and with and extension of 290.000 m2, from the stream mouth of Remolar to the Murtra lake. A pine forest, pine shed trees , planted to fix the dunes, separetes the beach from the rest of the space.
It's a natural beach next very close to ecological ecosystems, and it keeps the dune area in its natural state it is almost a virginal place, with no houses or buildings due to the airport neighbourhood.
While about Gavà:

A fine sandy beach with excellent services and communications
Gavà beach, some 3,551 m long and covering an area of 200,704 m2, not only provides visitors with perfect sand and sea, but also all the facilities and services necessary for the ideal holiday.
And here there all kind of place to stay, eat, drink....

Farewell

Hey everyone, the school classes are finally over. We are going to get our grades this Thursday and I heard that there will be a party, though I'm not sure.

I'm writing the last post just to say goodbye. I enjoyed reading your post and learning from your culture, traditions, food and places a lot.

I hope you liked my posts too. I wrote about many different things. I also enjoyed discussing with you.

It has been fun, take care. I'm glad we met.

By the way, good look against Croatia. I hope Poland gets into quarter finals.

Hi everybody... in Barcelona we have finished the school year. Yesterday was the last class and next Thursday we will have a party at school.
We can posted several recipes in our magazine and posted several new post in our blog. We are looking forward you posts.
I would like to ask you two things:
1. why are there so many Polish surnames ending with ki?
2. What's the meaning of that l (letter L) with a strip on it? some kind of stress? a new letter? a different kind of l?

My students may keep in touch using the blogs next weeks.

Hi everybody , I' ve written a little description of my favourite dish, I invite you to visit the e-magazine and tell me what is your favourite recipe.

MY FAVORITE DISH

Salmon with sautéed vegetables to the plate:

- 400g Salmon.
- 500g of vegetables ( Carrots , Zucchini , Green peppers).
- 3 Large spoonfuls of olive oil.
- 15g Basil.
- 10g Parsley.
- 2 Garlic cloves.

Length 10/15 minutes ready to eat.

EXPERIENCE TRAVELLING

The most negative experience that I have had travelling by plane was:

The flight Barcelona ( Spain ) - Sofia ( Bulgaria ) with a stop at Paris ( France ) . First when making the scale in Paris the air plane had already left and I had to wait 3 hours in the airport of Paris for a new plane, when it left I had to make another stop in Prague ( Czec Rep ) and from Prague to Sofia. I Arrived at 23H 55 min. when I should have had to arrived at 19H o ´clock more or less and to make matters worse the baggage stayed back in Prague.

My favourite Recipe

Hi, What about writing about our favourite cooking recipe. We can write here and then pass it to the e-zine. Dani did it and there's a "special" recipe for cooking a Paella..
Hem estat treballant es classes sobre les receptes en anglès. Els d'informàtica han fet noves propostes. Si us sembla usem aquest bloc com a plataforma base.
Molt bones les reflexions en les enquestes de les receptes. Ha guanyat sense rival la PAST, incedeible! entre els joves sí l'hagués dit però....

My favourite place

The place I like the most is Palma de Mallorca. I haven't been in many different places so I can really say this place is the best. But so far I love it.

I know this place because I lived there for many years.
